The Get Off On Art campaign was initially designed to increase awareness of the visual arts in the Waterloo Region, to challenge the community to think about art in a new way, to encourage the public to visit their local public art galleries and to invite visitors to enjoy a wide range of artistic and cultural activity. The web portal www.getoffonart.com centralizes and links visitors directly to the home websites of the four participating galleries, Cambridge Galleries, Clay & Glass Gallery, Homer Watson House & Gallery and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, all of whom have full exhibiting schedules and multi-faceted programming.

The Get Off On Art app. is the place to bring specific content related to the participating galleries. Here thematic posts brings you ongoing ideas and possibilities that start at the Get Off On Art Galleries and extend into the Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge region. We want to encourage a real participation and experience of art in all its spaces and places, so colourful visuals and text introduce you to what’s going on in our galleries, offers introductions to art-related interests, and suggests new ways to participate and enjoy the region's rich, cultural art environment. And for the art curious we want to introduce connections and intersections in art and culture that are not necerssariy gallery specific, but interesting nevertheless.

Our WHAT'S ON VIEW Section lets you know what is currently on view in the Get Off On Art galleries. You can then link directly to each gallery's web site for specific information.  Blog posts from previous exhibits will be archived and you may enjoy looking back on some of those exhibits to see what you've missed.  And we've initiated a post of exhibit reviews for those who are interested in having an arts writer's persepctive. As in much of our postings, this can be a great way to find out about current exhibits and artists, and to backtrack on exhibits you might have missed, works you would have liked to see, or artists you want to know more about. We'll also be posting artists' talks, curatorial talks, gallery tours, and more in our EVENTS Section.

Our ARTCETERA Section is an entry point for to think about art in new ways … connecting you to not only the world of participating galleries but also extending the range of art possibilities that radiate outwards. Be enthused about visiting a gallery and taking in the nearby amenities in the neighbourhoods and region, walking through parks, visiting the original landscapes of historical painting. We have specific posts on topics, such as public art and public parks [plus their cross connections] and we hope to give you just enough information and visuals to set you off on your own explorations. For posts such as the 'contemporary architecture', we introduce a level of deserving sophistication to the topic  by inviting an interested professional in the field to share insights and knowledge about great architecture in the region.

In the ARTCETERA Section we'll also feature books and reading recommended by exhibiting artists, give you interesting art info, post insightful quotes and much more. All of our Get Off On Art galleries have connections to libraries [either inhouse or located adjacent to the galleries] and we hope to encourage a cross-pollination of art interests with all that the world of reading has to offer and add. So we see a potential for a fascinating mix of invisible threads to pick up on.
